The identity verification process has three quick in-app steps. First, you take a photo of a valid government-issued ID (passport, national ID, or driving licence). Second, you complete a short liveness check by recording a short selfie video so we can confirm it's really you. Third, you confirm your personal details — full name, date of birth, and residential address. Everything happens inside the RUUT app, with no paperwork or branch visits.

Most personal identity verifications are completed within a few minutes. In some cases additional checks may be required, which can take up to one business day. You'll receive a real-time notification in the RUUT app the moment your verification is approved.

After your personal identity is verified, RUUT pulls your company information directly from Companies House so there's no need to upload registration documents. You'll then be asked to confirm details about your directors and significant shareholders, share the company's registered address, and, if applicable, upload supporting documents such as proof of trading address or licences. Once everything is reviewed, your business account is activated and ready to use.
